To begin the Certification process one must first complete and submit the application for certification. The written examination and image submission may then be completed at any time within two years of application. The written exam and image submission may be completed in any order—one may submit images for review before taking the written exam.
(Step 1) Application: Complete and sign the application for certification. The application must be processed before you may register for the exam or submit images. The application is valid for three years. If you do not complete the program during this three year period you will need to re-apply and start the program over.
(Step 2) Exam Registration: To register for the exam you must call at 800-786-6277 and identify the testing site at which you would like to take the exam. (Exam Dates) You must register for the exam at least five business days prior to the date on which you wish to take the written examination. If you fail to register you will not be able to take the exam.
(Step 3) Image Submission: Submit your images for review in accordance with the rules outlined in the image submission guidelines. Be sure to complete the forms in their entirety and submit the images by one of the due dates listed on the schedule of image review dates. Image reviews are only held four times a year. Read the image submission FAQ for more information.
