Planning on taking the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) exam? First, take this three-day intensive class to dive into the technical topics covered in the CPP Certification Exam, explore the Image Submission Review…and give you a more thorough working knowledge of photography.
This in-depth study of photography’s technical side could almost be considered to equivalent to a semester of college…so be prepared to study! Topics include the following:
- The Inverse Square Law, Filter Factors, Bellows Factor
- Lenses and Filters
- Color Theory and H&D Curves
- Lighting Ratios, Corrective Lighting and Posing, Depth of Field, Angle of View
- The Zone System (and how it helps you understand the digital histogram)
- Difference between a Bit, a Byte and Bit Depth

About Your Instructors:
Gary and Kathy Meek of Hot Springs, Arkansas, own and operate Gary’s Studio of Photography in Hot Springs. Both received their Master of Photography, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer degrees. Gary has received his Educational Associate from American Society of Photographers (ASP), and they are both Approved Photographic Instructors and on the list of International Judges.
Gary has served on the PPA Board of Directors (1999-2007), is a past president of Arkansas Professional Photographers Association (APPA), a past president of Professional Photographers of the Ozarks (PPO), and was president of Southwest Professional Photographers Association (SWPPA) for two consecutive years. Kathy is a councilor for PPA, on the Board of ASP, a past president of APPA, and a past president of SWPPA. Gary and Kathy have received their Associate Fellowship, Fellowship, and Senior Fellowship Degrees from APPA. In addition, they have been awarded Life Membership in APPA and SWPPA. And they have both received a Fellow of Photography degree in conjunction with PPO.
In addition to regional awards and having prints in the Loan Collection, Gary and Kathy have both received numerous APPA awards including Best of Show and Photographer of the Year awards for each of them. They are both also recipients APPA's Distinguished Service Award and National Award (and Gary received it from SWPPA as well).
